Johannesburg/Gauteng - Durban KZN Long Distance Movers

Updated: Sep 11, 2019

Relocation is no doubt a very stressful thing to do. Having to do a long distance move or relocation from one province to the other is even harder. Surprisingly there a lot of people moving between Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal Province in South Africa. In our experience of moving people however there is more people going down to KZN than there is to Gauteng. The coastal region is very popular with pensioners and retired or elderly people who settle in coastal areas in the south of Durban.

Below are questions often asked by people when relocating and choosing a company to assist them.

1. How much does it cost to move between Johannesburg/Pretoria and Durban or KZN?

The answer to this is depends on many variables e.g. how big is your move, when in the month are you moving, how easy is truck access to your property, are there stair cases at any of your properties, how far does the truck park from the gate etc.

These are all factors that moving companies take into account before quoting. There are other factors that determine the final price including whether your move will be a dedicated move or a shared load discussed below.

2. What is a Shared Load and a dedicated load on moves between Gauteng and KZN

A shared load is when a moving company collects and moves multiple movers in one truck load. A dedicated move on the other hand is self explanatory and means the truck is dedicated to one mover.

There are advantages and disadvantages when it comes to a shared load both for the moving company and the client. Firstly for the client a shared load will drastically reduce your costs and is a significantly cheaper way of moving between provinces. However the down side is you may not be fully in control of the time. Remember there are many customers in the truck therefore you may be delayed if the truck driver begins with other clients.

Another danger especially with inexperienced moving companies (There is plenty of these) is that they will mix-up clients's goods and your things will go missing.

On the other hand a customer has more control of time and their goods but they tend to be more expensive as one person pays for all the mover's expenses including their markup.
